The application deadlines for two of Farm Bureau’s top awards, the Young Farmer Excellence in Agriculture and the Achievement awards, have been moved to May 1.
Indiana Farm Bureau decided to make the deadline earlier in the year to allow winning contestants more time to prepare for the 2018 American Farm Bureau national competition, which will be held in Nashville, Tennessee, next January.
The Excellence in Agriculture Award competition is designated to recognize young farmers who are actively involved in agriculture but whose primary income over the past three years has not been earned from an agricultural operation they own. Participants will be judged on their understanding of agricultural issues, leadership abilities, their personal agricultural story and their involvement with Indiana Farm Bureau.
The Achievement Award spotlights young farmers whose income predominantly comes from an owned agricultural operation. Participates will be judged on their farm’s growth and management and their leadership abilities.
