Canadian dairy farmers will soon receive support from their
government to make up for lost income from trade deals with Europe and the
Pacific Rim.
Ag Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau says dairy farmers will receive $1.75 billion (Canadian) over the next eight years, with $345 million to be given this year.
“The owner of a typical farm with 80 dairy cows will be awarded compensation in the form of a direct payment of about $28,000 this year.”
The Ag Minister also says farmers will fully and fairly be supported once the U.S.
