A shortage of testing antigen has temporarily altered rules for county and state fair poultry exhibition in Illinois.
Illinois state Veterinarian Mark Ernst tells Brownfield the Pullorum Typhoid testing antigen is not in production because of a change in the manufacturer.
“This is a nationwide issue. There is one manufacturer for the entire country and so it has effected everybody,” Ernst said.
The Illinois Bureau of Animal Health and Welfare has waived the Pullorum testing requirement for poultry from Illinois so they can be exhibited in the state.
