The Illinois Farm Bureau says maintaining the state’s Livestock Management Facilities Act remains a focus of the group in the 2018 Legislative session.
Mark Gebhards, Illinois Farm Bureau government affairs director, tells Brownfield they expect another challenge to the law in the General Assembly, “Our goal here is to maintain a balanced process for siting livestock farms through that Act. That act has been in place for 20-plus years. We think that it does a good job, now, in protecting the environment and the farmers ability to raise livestock.
